Vacancy for Clerk / Responsible Finance Officer
A vacancy has occurred for the position of Parish Clerk / Responsible Finance Officer to Highley Parish Council.
For this varied and interesting position, candidates must be computer literate and have internet access. Candidates need not have previous experience working as a Parish Clerk
or have knowledge of local government, as training will be provided. The ability to work on their own initiative and communicate well at all levels, is of importance. The need to be enthusiastic about making a difference and to have the skills to work creatively / negotiate, to ensure the best outcomes for the Parish Council and community is also essential.
The Clerk is responsible for the day to day running of the Council, preparing agendas, taking meetings minutes, dealing with correspondence and local government officials, managing of accounts, preparing budgets, dealing with minimal VAT and PAYE returns and organising audits, administration of the Parish Council website and social media platforms. For applicants unfamiliar with these procedures plenty of help will be available,
Attendance is required at the Parish Council Meetings held in the Severn Centre, Highley on the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm (and any other extraordinary / committee meetings that may be arranged as necessary throughout the year.)
The person appointed will be accountable to the Council for the effective management of its resources and will be responsible for all financial records of the Council
Salary will be based on NJJC Salary pay scales depending on qualifications and experience
Hours of work 21 hours per week .
